Calwire’s specialized machines enable the company to machine parts with precision (tolerances of +/- 0.0002 on size and location). Using robotics, custom-designed and precise tooling, and the eye of highly-trained engineers, Calwire can produce high-quantity runs, working to ensure each individual medical device component has the same outstanding quality.
In 1984, Founders Michael and Christina Grimm invested in their first piece of wire EDM equipment, establishing Calwire initially as California Wire EDM out of a small warehouse in Santa Ana, California. Over 35 years later, Calwire has expanded into Swiss Screw Machining, Milling, and Tooling. Today we proudly deliver the finest quality miniature parts and screws to our loyal customers.
1984 – California Wire EDM was founded by Michael and Christina Grimm.
1990 – Added CNC Turning machines to satisfy market growth.
1992 – Included 4-Axis CNC Milling to expand customers into diversified industries.
1999 – Combined CNC Milling and Turning styles by purchasing 1st Swiss Screw Machine.
2005 – Expanded into Dental implants with dental spindles.
2010 – The Grimm sons, Jason and Patrick, join the family business.
2012 – Evolved company name to Calwire Inc.
2016 – Bought full 5-Axis Milling machine.
2019 – Moved into new Headquarters in Aliso Viejo, CA.
